Using Big Bird and Sesame Street to Learn Math and Language

In Bill Thompson's classic book, "Sesame Street," a young woman named Mabel tries to learn the alphabet. One activity that is shown frequently on Sesame Street is "ENTRY," where a child must match a picture and sound. After she has done this, she has to say the number (usually around ten) before entering the room. If the child mumbles or stutters during this process, the camera then shows a glimpse of her mouth as she attempts to utter the word.
